On Monday, August 31, Benicia will post the revised sections of Chapter 2 of the draft Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Valero Crude-by-rail Project.

We will have until Oct. 30 for public review (August 31 -Oct. 30 at 5:00 p.m.) which can be a written response emailed to the city (Amy Million, Principal Planner, Community Development Department, 250 East L Street, Benicia, CA 94510.  amillion@.benicia.ca.us  (707) 747-1637 (fax) ).  Testimony was heard at a Planning Commission hearing on Tuesday, September 29 beginning at 6:30 at City Hall, 250 L Street, Benicia.  Other hearings were not needed.  You may still submit written commentary .

The revised sections of the document will be available for downloading at the City of Benicia website.  It will be easier to access them at www.beniciaindependent.com.  Some printed copies may be available at Benicia City Hall as well.  A binder copy of the earlier DEIR is available at the Davis Branch Library for comparison.

Our comments are important as every entry is admitted into the legal record for future reference.  We will be scanning the documents side by side to determine what areas have been addressed and which areas are still inadequate.  Watch for workshops on letter writing ideas later in the month.
